Deal readiness

Deal readiness: diagnose the pursuit, not the forecast

A readiness score describes the present state of a pursuit: what is evidenced, what is assumed and what is missing. It is a diagnostic for the people working the deal, not a forecast for the pipeline report.

Six weighted dimensions

Onden scores readiness from 0 to 100, but the breakdown is the point. Each dimension is weighted by how much it typically determines the outcome of a complex pursuit.

  • Customer Strategy & Urgency — 15
  • Value & Business Case — 20
  • Stakeholder Access & Relationships — 20
  • Decision Process & Close Credibility — 15
  • Competitive Position & Differentiation — 15
  • Proof, Execution & Win Plan — 15

The number is the least interesting output

What changes a deal is the evidence behind each dimension: which claims are customer-confirmed, which are seller-supplied, and which are assumptions no one has tested. Onden surfaces those gaps alongside the score and turns them into specific next moves.

Onden does not describe readiness as win probability or forecast probability, and neither should a deal review. Once a diagnostic becomes a commitment number, sellers manage it upward instead of using it.

Track movement, not level

Readiness is most useful over time. A pursuit whose business case moves from seller-estimated to customer-owned has genuinely improved. A pursuit whose readiness has not moved in weeks is stalled, however much activity has been logged against it.
